MUSÉE DE LA PORTE ET DE LA FERRONNERIE
BeschreibungFounded in 1993 by the association for the preservation of wood crafts, this museum houses a collection of 110 entrance doors spanning from the 17th to the 20th century spread over 6 small halls.
It showcases in a didactic way their technical design (wood species, mounting, assembly) and decoration: colors, mouldings, sculptures.
The museum also features different type of joinery, windows and shutters, door-knockers, locks and ancient tools... rescued from oblivion and destruction and thus preserved. It is the brainchild and labour of love of a joiner-cabinet maker "Compagnon du Devoir et du Tour de France" keen to pass on a real legacy, his knowledge and experience. This museum is as well adressed to the general public as with professionals : carpenters, metalworkers, architects, looking for models towards the rehabilitation of ancient buildings.
